Typhoon Haima: Hong Kong office temporarily closed on Friday, 21 October 2016|
The Hong Kong observatory has hoisted the Typhoon No. 8 signal. The Hong Kong office will be temporarily closed on 21 October 2016.
For staff who are covering critical functions, please check with your manager/s in relations to your work arrangements.
The situation will be closely monitored. Any updates will be made available on the BNY Mellon Alert (bnymellonalert.com) website and a further message will be sent as appropriate. Please continue to take note of government announcements in the news and refer to the below points regarding the Hong Kong office arrangements in the event of black rain and typhoons.
When a typhoon no. 8 or 'black' rainstorm warning signal is hoisted, employees are advised to take note of government announcements over broadcasts/in the news and also to check bnymellonalert.com The following guidelines should be observed:
If a typhoon no. 8 or 'black' rainstorm signal is lowered at 12pm (Hong Kong time) or earlier, the office will open as normal within two hours after the signal is lifted.
If a typhoon no. 8 or 'black' rainstorm signal is lowered after 12pm (Hong Kong time), the office will open as normal on the next working day.
If a typhoon no. 8 signal is hoisted during working hours, employees should leave the office.
If a 'black' rainstorm signal is hoisted during working hours, employees should remain in the office until the signal is lowered.
